Tämä tuli taas ihan puun takaa. Neljän kirjan aikana minulle on muodostunut kuva Cindy Gerardista kirjailijana. Hän kirjoittaa ihan kelvollista romanttista jännitystä. Hänen kirjojaan lukee ihan mielellään eikä mikään juttu hyppää silmille. Toisaalta suuret positiivisetkin tunteet ovat jääneet puuttumaan. Nyt ajattelin lukea Bodyguards-sarjan pois alta ja siirtyä sitten hänen uuteen sarjaansa, jonka ensimmäinen osa on odottanut hyllyssä jo varmaan useamman vuoden (klassinen aloitetaan-uusi-sarja-vanhan-pohjalle-kuvio, joka pakottaa lukijan lukemaan ensin vanhan sarjan). Olen itse mielessäni odottanut koko ajan sarjan viimeistä osaa ja Dallasin vuoroa. Hän tapasi sarjan kolmannessa osassa oman sankarittarensa ja muuttui yhdessä yössä iloisesta ja huolettomasta playboysta synkäksi murjottajaksi. Nämä välissä olevat kirjat ovat olleet vain pakollisia välietappeja matkalla hänen tarinaansa. Kirjan alkuasetelma on varsin poikkeava. Kun Lily ja Manny tapaavat, Manny on vasta 18-vuotias ja Lily kymmenen vuotta häntä vanhempi. Yleensä kartan kirjoja, joissa on suuri ikäero kummin päin vain. Nyt se tuli täysin puskista ja latisti tunnelmaa aika lailla. Mutta sitten kun tarina pääsi kunnolla vauhtiin, ennakkoluulot ja -asenteet unohtuivat sen siliän tien. Manny ja Lily iskevät tarinallaan suoraan lukijan sydämeen ja puristavat sitä matkan varrella varsin mukavasti. Ehdottomasti sarjan paras osa tähän mennessä ja suuri positiivinen yllätys.
